Youth Stuff

Sunday, June 29, 2008

So this has been a surprisingly productive weekend! Saturday morning, I got up and went to a work day up in the youth room at church. We're clearing out (ie: throwing away) a lot of junk to make room for a remodel. So that was good. Then I came home and did a bunch of stuff around the house... laundry, cleaned, even did some gardening while Sean washed the car. Californians are weird about their cars, so you know what they say... when in Rome. But that's a whole 'nother post. I'm going to take some pics of the flower we have in our courtyard area, and I'll post em in a bit... but my camera battery is charging now. (I just found the charger after looking for it for a week.)

I also got to work on some design stuff for the youth group. I love doing that, but our church here has a design person on staff so every time I volunteer to design a logo or flyer or something, everyone is like, "Oh, no we'll have the design lady do that." Which is fine most of the time, but I really enjoy doing that kind of stuff. So I found some things to do and didn't ask- I just did it. :-) And it was fun. So, I'll post some of those.

We are having an area-wide HS girls' retreat in August, and the speaker, Staci Mason, has a ministry called Pursuing Womanhood. The conference is called "Pursuit." The "design lady" at church got to have all the fun doing the registration forms and fliers, so I decided to do some jpegs for Sean to use in his emails and for the kids to post online in messages and stuff. I also made some postcards, so that's what these designs are for..

We are also starting some new ways of keeping attendance and greeting kids, so I made these "Youth Sponsor" badges for some lanyards we'll have them wear each week. They're B&W because we printed them on neon paper. We're keeping attendance by having each row of students write their name on the sign in sheet, so that's what the other thing is for. Little stuff, but fun. :-)

Sean went up the mountain to go camping with the Junior High at Bass Lake tonight, so I'm all alone! :-( But I'm going to go take some pics of the flowers and such outside, then may try to work on a new banner for this blog. We'll see!
