While I'm Waiting

Friday, March 20, 2009

A couple of weeks ago, Sean and I rented the movie "Fireproof."  I know, we're a little bit slow in seeing this movie, but to be honest, I was a little leery of a "christian" movie.  But it was super great.  Sean did the Love Dare for me a few months ago and it has revolutionized our relationship.  I highly recommend it.

The movie was an excellent piece about God's provision and healing, but there was one song in particular that really stuck out to me.  It is the song "While I'm Waiting" by John Waller.  BOY!  If there ever was a song written for me in my life right now, this is it.  You can go here and listen to the song... seriously.... go do it.  Just click the little play button under the video screen on the right.  You can see the music video from the movie, too.  I was reminded of this song while reading a post by my friend, Melissa who was also talking about waiting on God.

OK, so here's the Lyrics to the song....
While I'm Waiting
I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am hopeful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it is painful
But patiently, I will wait

I will move ahead, bold and confident
Takeing every step in obedience
While I'm waiting
I will serve You
While I'm waiting
I will worship
While I'm waiting
I will not faint
I'll be running the race
Even while I wait

I'm waiting
I'm waiting on You, Lord
And I am peaceful
I'm waiting on You, Lord
Though it's not easy
But faithfully, I will wait
Yes, I will wait
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve You while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting
I will serve you while I'm waiting
I will worship while I'm waiting on You, Lord
I will serve you, I will worship you, I will love you... while I'm waiting.  Its no secret that my life feels like a big giant waiting game right now.  Waiting to see what God wants Sean and I to do... waiting to see where God wants us to be....waiting for opportunities... waiting to see what our future family looks like.  That last one is really the toughest.  Or should I say, its the one I grow most impatient about.  Probably because it is the only one that I can truly do NOTHING about! But it is amazing, as we are on this journey to a family, I have complete and utter peace in the knowledge that God already knows our little one.  He knows exactly how that little one will get to us, and he knows exactly what we need to prepare for that day.  While I may not know right now if our child will come home in a hospital blanket or in an airplane, I do know that God has a plan.  So I am resting in the confidence that God's timing and God's plan is perfect.  That is the only explanation I have for the peace that I have felt for years.  Even though there are days it is painful, I know I will not grow weary.

I also believe that in our times of waiting, God does not want us to be stagnant.  I believe that he wants us to continue to grow, and to worship and to love.  That is what I love so much about this song.  Its like a promise to God that while we are waiting on his timing, we will continue to be faithful... joyfully faithful, waking each day anew with hope and confidence.

  2. Ha! We just watched the movie for the first time last weekend. I put the song "love is not a fight" on my myspace. It was a good movie and I was curious because I had really liked facing the giants. I was excited to see what else that church had come up with as far as movie making.
