37 Weeks!
Saturday, April 16, 2011How Far Along: 37 Weeks... that's OFFICIALLY FULL TERM, folks!!!
Size of baby: According to my little ticker countdown, baby is the size of a watermelon. It definitely feels like that!!!
Total Weight Gain: 32 pounds.... technically, you're only supposed to gain 1 lb/week in the home stretch and I gained 2 lbs this past week. Oops. I'm hoping to gain no more than 35 total this pregnancy... we'll see. Guess it all depends on how long Gia decides to stay all snug up in my belly. Its safe to say, though, that I weigh more than I have ever weighed in my life-- and more than I care to ever weigh again (unless I'm pregnant!).
Maternity Clothes: Even the extra long maternity tanks that I wear underneath everything are getting a bit short. And I'm outgrowing my maternity jeans. It may be yoga pants for the last few weeks. I refuse to wear them out in public as a real "outfit" yet, though....
Gender: Girl! Gianna Noelle
Movement: She's been super active, which I love. Sure, it hurts like heck but it keeps me sane.
Sleep: Sleep is oh-so-elusive. Just a couple hours here and there. I actually dread nighttime, because I just toss and turn. And lying down for so long is very uncomfortable. I did sleep pretty good last night, though, and slept in until 10:45 this a.m.! I felt like a new woman! But I"m not expecting that to happen again any time soon.
What I miss: Sleeping more than 2 hours at a time, bending over, wine, sushi, etc etc! I also can't sit very well for more than 20 minutes or so at a time. We drove up to Columbus to see my sister-in-law for lunch this past week, and the 2 hours in the car were MORE than I could handle!
Cravings: SWEETS! Oh, my. Sweets. Tonight, I had Funnel fries from Skyline, then came home and had a Milky Way. Like, not the "fun size" ones, but a real candy bar size. I can count the number of whole candy bars I've eaten my entire life on two hands. But it was yummy! (No wonder it was 2 lbs. this week....)
Symptoms: Not as many as I would like... I'm ready to welcome the contractions, but they seem to be holding off for now.
Best Moment of the Week: We installed the car seat! Its so fun driving around with it in the back now! I can't wait until Gianna is actually in it!!!
Appointments This Week? Yep! We met the 4th of 5 doctors in our practice. She was super nice, too. I really liked her. As with all the others, she took time to answer my questions. When I told her that Gia hadn't reached her 10 kick counts that morning, she hooked me up to the Non-Stress Test monitor, just for my own peace of mind. I GREATLY appreciated that! I love a doctor whose philosophy is "better safe than sorry." (BTW, Gia was just fine... I just hadn't had enough time between breakfast and getting ready for my appointment to properly do all her kick counts. I thought that was probably the case, but just wanted to be sure!)
What I’m looking forward to: Picking up my baby in the morning.
One Thing I've Learned This Week: God's timing is perfect, even though it doesn't seem like it. I've been reflecting on past examples in our personal life of when God provided and his timing was ultimately better than anything we could have ever dreamed up. I'm trusting that the same holds true in Gianna's birth, as well as in finding a ministry job for Sean. But it sure is discouraging to look and look and look, and to feel like God still wants us to be in ministry, but not have any prospects on the horizon. Again, trust. :) In the meanwhile, we are really enjoying the time we have together. And I have a feeling that God knows this is exactly what we need right now-- even more than a job. So I am trying to be thankful for that!
